Garrison Reis accounted for four of his team’s six hits Thursday at Bassi Field, while Blake Mejorado and Tyler Paul Wentworth combined to pitch 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to help Manteca Little League’s minor-division ‘A’ team hold off Spreckels Park ‘A’ 7-5 and advance to the winners-bracket semifinals of the District 67 All-Star Tournament.

Reis finished 4 for 4 with a two-run double in the second inning. He also plated the game’s first run in the top of the first when JoJo Brizuela tagged a two-run single to left.

Manteca never trailed from there, but Spreckels Park threatened to come back after Rylan McDonald’s towering grand slam in the third closed the deficit to 6-5.

Spreckels Park had just one runner in scoring position the rest of the way. Troy Morrow had Spreckels Park’s final hit in the fourth and ended up 3 for 3 with two runs. He led off the home half of the first with a triple and scored on Hunter Donham’s fielder’s choice.

Spreckels Park struggled early on defense, committing four of its six errors in the first two innings. Donham helped settle things from the mound, throwing two-plus innings in relief while striking out five and giving up an unearned run.

Manteca squares off with Northgate ‘A’ in the semifinals starting noon Saturday at Gillen Field. Spreckels Park awaits the winner of the Manteca ‘B’-Weston Ranch game and next plays Saturday, 9 a.m. at Bassi Field.

Anthony Sy hit 3 for 3 with two doubles and three runs and was part of a combined three-hitter in the mercy-shortened rout at Gillen Field.

Northgate ‘A’ broke it open with a five-run second inning and plated four more in the fourth. Fernando Alaniz (2 for 3) highlighted the fourth with a three-run homer. Zach Grabowski, Sy and Alaniz shared time on the pitcher’s mound.
