Turlock returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and never trailed in a 24-12 varsity Cen-Cal win over the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes at Guss Schmiedt Field on Saturday night. Clayton Hatle pulled in an 8-yard pass from Austin Kivilahti for the first Manteca score and Dezmin Ware scored late in the game on a 9-yard run. Chris Ortiz (fumble recovery) led the Buffaloes defense with seven tackles followed by Hatle and Ware with six apiece and Adam Gonzales with four.

Turul WPA aims to generate interest in water polo at younger age groups

Coaches from rival aquatic sports programs in the area are combining efforts to introduce water polo to younger age groups. Erik Zador and Lauren Koury of Turul Water Polo Academy, formerly Ripon Renegades, fielded four teams this month during the three-week California Super League, including 12-under and 10-under coed squads.
