SALIDA — Logan Kootstra led off the sixth inning with an inside-the-park home run deep in the right-field corner Monday night Ripon, sparking a three-run rally.

That was not enough to close the gap, as Salida held on for a 13-11 win in the consolation final of the District 67 Minor League All-Star Tournament at Salida Park.

Following the four-bagger by Kootstra (2 for 3, home run, three runs), Tanner Haveman (2 for 3, RBI, double, two runs) hit a double and he went to third on an infield single by Derek Ponce. Luke Townsend (2 for 3, two RBI, run) singled in Haveman and Ponce but Ripon would get no closer.

Ripon took a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Isiah Sonke led off the frame with a double followed by a Gavin Cloward infield single. Sonke scored on an error off the bat of Kootstra, Haveman plated Cloward on a groundout, Bo Brayton walked, and Lucas Durao knocked in Kootstra and Brayton with a triple. Jimmy Swails added an RBI for Ripon.

Salida scored four runs in the second inning and five in the third. Leadoff batter Brad Heiser had the big bat for Salida, going 3 for 4 with two runs. Isaiah Thomas was 2 for 2 with a two RBI, a triple and two runs and Damian Gomez went 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run.

Salida faces Patterson today in the championship round at 5:15 p.m.
