Ripon Major all-stars ride early barrage to lopsided win

 TRACY — The first eight Ripon batters reached base in the first inning, and the Major all-stars doubled down plus one in the second with the first 17 batters reaching base on the way to an 18-1 thumping of Spreckels Park in the consolation quarterfinal of the District 67 Majors championships at Legacy Fields.

Ripon tallied 13 hits. Cal De Bruin (3 for 3, four RBI, two runs) and Jesse Vega (3 for 3, three RBI, double, triple, two runs) led the way with Connor Paris going 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs.

Robbie Nieweg knocked in two runs and scored one, Easton Cloward (double), Rocko Noble and Bronson Dietrich each tallied an RBI and a run; Hudson Rushing (two RBI) and Gio Sandoval scored three runs apiece, Benji Sybesma scored two runs and Maverick Brum one.

Jesse Vega pitched the first 1.2 innings for Ripon, striking out the side in order in the first inning and he finished with four strikeouts, one run, two hits and a walk.

Bradyn Morales led off the second inning with a double for Spreckels Park. He went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Joseph Rodriguez’s sacrifice fly. Ben O’Neill and Daniel Teicheira accounted for the other two Spreckels Park hits.

Ripon advances to today’s consolation semifinal at Northgate against either Tracy or Salida at 9 a.m.
