Ripon Knights stomp Turlock Hornets

The Ripon Knights varsity hammered the Turlock Hornets 42-0 on Saturday in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action at Ripon Christian High School.

Ripon’s Xavier Powell posted four touchdowns on runs of 10, 10 and 44 yards and on a 3-yard catch from Stadtler Postma, who also scored on a 43-yard run. Jaxs Booth gained 51 yards on five carries and Chris Alfaro ran seven times for 92 yards.

Ryder Shelton had seven tackles and a defensive touchdown for the Knights. Joshue Gonzalez led Ripon with eight tackles, Kevin Torres had seven stops and Drew Walker five. Booth and Cody Foster also contributed on defense.

 

Junior varsity

Knights 26, Hornets 12

The Ripon offensive line owned the trenches against a big Turlock defensive line and led the Knights to 258 rushing yards.

Ripon’s Jessy Vega scored three touchdowns, gaining 72 yards on seven carries. Brayden Dell'Osso scored a touchdown behind seven carries for 91 yards and Hudson Rushing ran the ball six times for 48 yards.

Cal De Bruin led the Knights with eight tackles. Jack Schaapman (forced fumble) and Hudson Anthony added six stops and Ryker Christiansen four.

Novice

Knights 33, Hornets 0

Tyce Thompson shredded the Hornets for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

Thompson carried the ball seven times and scored on runs of 31, 40 and 40 yards. Keagan Heuvel carried the ball six times and gained 45 yards with one touchdown, Jacon Peterson had a 2-yard touchdown run and Gio Penaflor ran the ball three times for 33 yards.

David Wegner tallied seven tackles for the Knights. Austin Stirrat added six stops with five apiece for Hudson Postma, Brayden Camara and Chase Rubenaker. Dane Moore recovered an onside kick.

 

Junior novice

Knights 28, Hornets 0

Ripon’s Nicolai Gorbunoff and Lucas Durao racked up nearly 250 yards and scored one touchdown apiece.

Durao ran the ball six times for 127 yards and Durao added 122 yards on four carries. Mearl Thompson tallied one touchdown on two carries for 40 yards. There was great offensive line play from Brayden Bettencourt, Keegan Lewellen, Logan Stirrat, Levi Reeder and Harvin Chohan.

Durao was all over the field with 17 tackles and a forced fumble. Jaxson Quilantang (forced fumble) added none stops, Gorbunoff five with three apiece for Chase Johnson and Aiden John. Eli Browne, Keegan Lewellen, Luke Hernandez, and Jaxson Muschott also contributed on defense.

Varsity

Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 33, Tracy Buccaneers 0

Manteca’s Brody Carabello ran for one touchdown and threw for another.

Carabello (four carries, 70 yards; 71 yards passing) ran for a 38-yard touchdown and hit Adriel Cooks (five carries, 31 yards; 26 receiving yards) with a 26-yard touchdown pass. Brixton Ortiz (nine carries, 59 yards; 12 yards receiving) scored on a 3-yard run, Leiland Riggelman (seven carries, 59 yards) added a 1-yard scoring plunge and Josiah Moreno scored on a 32-yard run.

Brody Carabello made eight tackles and a fumble recovery, Christian Chavez forced a fumble and made five tackles with Bode Hiatt (fumble recovery) and Zack Sheldon 4 total each adding four stops. Jonathan Arnoldus chipped in two sacks.

 

Manteca Cowboys 44, Ceres Bulldogs 0

Darien East scored a touchdown on each of his three carries for the Cowboys.

East gained 98 yards on his touchdown runs of 22, 25 and 50 yards. Logan Yagi added a 42-yard touchdown run and pulled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from Elias Lopez and Adrian Sena scored from 17 yards out.

East, Sena and Maleriq de la Rosa made three tackles apiece for Manteca. Both Lamar Narcisse and Louis Madrid recovered a fumble.

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 34, Bulldogs 0

Erian Johnson Jr. made two touchdowns for Manteca.

Johnson Jr. (seven carries, 64 yards) scored on runs of 9 and 64 yards. Jonathan Morales (five carries, 66 yards) had a 49-yard touchdown run, Terrance Montgomery scored on a 20-yard run

and Brayden Davis (two interceptions) returned an interception for a touchdown.

Montgomery (fumble recovery), Akai Henderson, Devin Cortinas and Bryant Lewis each made four tackles with Angelo Cervantes and Elijah Abidan making three tackles each.

 

Buccaneers 34, Jr. Buffaloes 6 

Vincent Diaz led the Jr. Buffaloes with 54 yards.

Diaz scored on a 7-yard run in the third quarter. Santino Sanchez added 49 yards on the ground and Blake Scalise 38.

Manteca’s Keoni Oliver made six tackles followed by Santino Sanchez with five and Navi Murillo with three.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 19, Bulldogs 14

Manteca scored a touchdown in the third period to take the lead and held it for the rest of the game.

Max Rios paced the Cowboys with 120 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. German Patron added 65 yards on four carries and Angelo Martinez scored on touchdown, gaining 53 yards on three carries. Mateo Gavino was 4 of 6 passing for 50 yards and gained 60 yards on four carries.

Donavyn Willams and Angelo Martinez led Manteca with seven tackles each. Fernando Ceji 2 Solo added six stops, Alijah Lopez five and Ronaldo Ruelas four.

 

Jr. Buffaloes 28, Buccaneers 6

Quinnie Dunbar scored three touchdowns for Manteca.

Dunbar ran for 147 yards on 11 carries with a apir of rushing touchdowns and one on a 60-yard kickoff return. DeShon Benton Jr. added a 15-yard touchdown run and Trenton Fitzhugh was 3 for 3 passing.

Benton Jr. made a touchdown-saving tackle late in the first half and made five tackles. Blake Esteves posted seven tackles and two fumble recoveries, Quinnie Dunbar and Jakob Husband each had 4 tackles while Dennis Jet Johnson had three tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception.

 

Starts

Jr. Buffaloes 18, Buccaneers 6

Manteca scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters.

Bryson Benton got Manteca on the board with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Jeremiah Talavera. Jereiah Williams scored on a 55-yard run followed by Dreydon Johnson’s 35-yard touchdown run.

Johnson and Williams tallied 11 tackles apiece.

Cowboys 26, Bulldogs 0

Manteca’s Sabastian Leon scored three touchdowns.

Leon’s touchdowns included runs of 3 and 35 yards. Gabriel Gomes added a 5-yard touchdown run.

Ishmael Valber Aceves recovered two fumbles for the Cowboys. Tiger Singh and Jackson Batterson played well on the defense for Manteca.
