The Spreckels Park Little League Orioles are minor-division champions once again.
They completed their second straight title run Wednesday by defeating the Giants 3-0 in the winner-take-all final at Brock Elliott School. The top-seeded Orioles forced the “if” game with a 13-0 win on Tuesday.
The Orioles got some outstanding pitching performances along the way. A.J. Chapman amassed 10 strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings, and Jimmy Burns got the final five outs for the save.
With their dominant efforts from the mound, the Orioles did more than enough offensively. They scored all three of their runs in the fourth, with Jackson Fay starting the rally with a walk and stealing home. Brandon Cruz then tagged a two-run single.
The Orioles will represent their league and look to defend another title starting June 16 when they begin the District 67 Tournament of Champions in Patterson.
