STOCKTON — Round 2 begins this morning at 9.

With Northgate leading Manteca 21-10 in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday night, the Manteca coach was ejected and following the ejection there was tumult on the field which led to the umpires terminating the game. As of press time the determination was that the umpires did not have the authority to end the game so it will pick up where it left off this morning at 9 at Paul Weston Park with Manteca having one out and one on in opening-round action of the District 67 Juniors All-Star tournament.

The game was back and forth until the top of the sixth when Northgate put up 10 runs behind four Manteca errors and five walks. Northgate’s Nathan De La Cruz (3 for 3, three RBI, four runs) had a two-RBI single in the sixth, plating Damian Densmore and Isaiah Ahio (3 for 4, two runs). Nicholas Johnson (three RBI, two runs) drew a bases-loaded walk later in the frame, scoring Gabe Strickland (RBI, two runs).

In a five-run Northgate second, Nicholas Johnson (2 for 2, three RBI, two runs) laced a two-RBI single that scored Strickland and Randolph Lee (four runs, RBI). Felix Rodriguez went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run for Northgate and Dean Sartonis scored three runs.

The big inning for Manteca was a four-run fifth inning with Christian Sandoval (2 for 4, four RBI, two doubles, run) lacing a two-RBI double to score Dominik Amato (2 for 3, double, run) and Aiden Sandoval (four runs). Kyle Fetterley (2 for 4, four RBI, run) added an RBI single to plate Christian Sandoval.

Viss and Benji Sybesma (ground-rule double) were each 2 for 3. Jesse Hernandez closed out the game on the mound for Ripon, going 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.
