STOCKTON — Northgate put up five first-inning runs Wednesday night and never looked back in a 12-6 semifinal win over Ripon in the District 67 11U All-Star tournament at August Knodt School.

Jayden Chavez (2 for 3, two runs) led off the Northgate first with a single and went to second on a one-out walk by Michael Moreno (RBI, two runs). Chavez scored on an error off the of Diesel Spanger (three RBI, two runs), Moreno and Spanger came in on a two-RBI single by D.J. Ivers (two RBI, run) and Sam Celli (RBI, two runs) walked.

Ivers scored from second on an error when Aiden Torres singled and Celli stole home on a delayed steal.

Spanger had the big hit of the four-run fourth inning with a three RBI double, plating Chavez, Ealin Showers and Moreno. Mateo Bonilla walked with one out in the inning and came when Moreno was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Ripon put up three runs in the second inning behind an RBI single by Troy Eskes (RBI, run) that plated Jace Blanco (two runs) and a two-RBI double that plated Eskes and Keegan Dillon. In the fourth inning, Blanco scored on an error and Hunter Scull stole home on a delayed steal.

Ripon got its last run in the sixth inning when Logan Vander Plaats launched a ground-rule over the center-field fence that scored Holden Peelman.

Northgate advances to the championship round Saturday at noon and will await the winner of the Weston Ranch-Ripon consolation final on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
