Mossdale Elementary won two out of the four division championships in the Acorn League track finals Tuesday at Sierra High’s Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.
The Jaguars outpointed Neil Hafley 59-51 for the boys 7th-8th grade title, and edged Brock Elliot 60-59 to win 4th-6th grade girls. They nearly came up with a third meet championship but fell two points short of Stella Brockman in 7th-8th grade girls. Veritas is the boys 4th-6th grade champion.
Here are highlights from individual events:
7th-8th grade boys
Sebastian Thomas paced Neil Hafley with wins in the 100- (11.7 seconds) and 200-meter (24.4) dashes. Mossdale’s Dredyn Lowery took first in the 400 (58.1), and seventh grader Jackson Coenenberg (5 minutes, 30.6 seconds) held off McParland teammate Elijah Galvan (5:30.9) to win the 1,600.
Jacob Perez of Joshua Cowell won the shot put with a mark of 39 feet, 6 inches. Golden West’s Kyle Acker prevailed in the long jump (18-04).
Winning schools in the relays: Mossdale 4x100, Stella Brockman 4x400, George Komure 800 sprint medley,and McParland 1,600 distance relay.
7th-8th grade girls
Nile Garden’s Sofia Montes doubled in the 200 (28.9 seconds) and 400 (1:06.7). Edido Etim won the 100 (13.4) for Veritas, and Joseph Widmer’s Monserrath Santillan took the 1,600 (7:10.4) title.
In the field events, Stella Brockman’s Ava Bonilla finished first in the shot put (30-0), and Evangeline Berry of George Komure won the long jump (13-08).
Relay winners: Mossdale 4x100, Mossdale 4x400, Shasta 800 sprint medley and McParland 1,600 medley.
4th-6th grade boys
Emilio Flores of Neil Hafley blazed to first-place finishes in the 100 (13.7) and 200 (28.9).
Brock Elliot’s Rafael Nunez ruled the 400 (1:05.2), and August Knodt’s Jack Basco Jr. took the 800 (2:43.3) title.
Stella Brockman’s Jared Reyes won the shot put (25-10), and Great Valley’s Ayden Mom beat Veritas’ Genesus Siga in a jump-off for the long jump title.

4th-6th grade girls
Ciena Hawkins paced Mossdale with wins in the 200 (29.5) and 400 (1:07.1).
Kayla Alexander (100, 13.4) and Gianna Loduca (800, 3:00.0) picked up first-place points for Brock Elliott.
McParland’s Madison Wood won the shot put (24-06), and Anvi Sharma of Veritas won the long jump (11-11).
Relay winners: Brock Elliott 4x100, Mossdale 4x200, Mossdale 800 medley relay and French Camp 1,600 medley.
