 Macklin Umpad capped a wild 10-9 comeback victory with a walk-off single for the Mets in the Ripon Parks & Recreation U8 championship at Mistlin Sports Park on June 25.

The Red Sox scored the game’s first eight runs and were ahead 9-1 after the top of the fourth inning.

The Mets answered with four runs in the bottom half and finished the job in the fifth.

With two outs in the final frame, Elijah Hernandez (3 for 4, RBI, two runs) knocked in Wyatt Ciapetti, and Beckham Hiriscau singled to load the bases.

Hunter Margreitar (2 for 4, two RBIs) drove in Quinn Branham, and Cole Repetto (3 for 4, two RBIs) knotted the score with a hit to set the stage for Umpad. Umpad finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and a run.
