Marlins 50/70 all-stars advance to District 67 consolation semifinal

TRACY — Manteca Marlins pitcher Trent Sprecksel came into the game Tuesday night with the bases loaded and no outs. He struck out the next three batters on 10 pitches, with the one ball allowing a Tracy run to score. Sprecksel struck out three more in the fifth inning before the Marlins ended the game via the mercy rule in the fifth at 16-6 in a consolation contest of the District 67 50/70 All-Star Tournament at Legacy Fields.

Manteca’s big inning was the fourth with seven runs. Adrian Legasi-Gallegos (2 for 3, RBI, run) scored on an Ian Garrero groundout, Jace Reynolds and David Gloria (double, run) came in when Sprecksel’s grounder to short was misplayed, Sprecksel (three runs) was doubled in by Austin Stirrat (2 for 3, three RBI, two doubles, three runs), Grayson Bancroft doubled in A.J. Haines and Bancroft rounded out the scoring parade when he scored on a double by Grayson Feller (2 for 3, three RBI, two doubles, run) to make the score 15-5.

Tracy extended the game one-half an inning when Aaron Silviera single in Colt Huttberg (two runs) in the top of the fifth. Carrero ended the game when his grounder was short was misplayed, scoring Caleb Malear to make the score 16-6.

Tracy’s Leo Fernandez (2 for 2, home run) had the hit of the game with a line-drive home run off the scoreboard in center field to draw Tracy within 8-4 in the fourth inning.

Manteca faces Patterson tonight at 6 in the consolation final at Legacy Fields.
