IONE — Next stop, Healdsburg.

Earlier in the Section 6 Junior All-Star Tournament, Sunrise of Stockton dispatched Northgate to the consolation bracket with an embarrassing 10-run loss.
Northgate did not stay embarrassed for long. With the exception of that loss, Northgate outscored its opponents 50-18 including a humiliating 20-5 five-inning mercy-rule win over Sunrise on Wednesday night for the tournament championship at Howard Park.
Often in these tournaments, a team will run out of pitching, and that appears to have happened to Sunrise. Northgate scored at least three runs in every inning — five in the first and fourth innings — and had just 11 hits in the 20-run outing. Sunrise gave up 11 free passes either via the walk or hit batter and committed four errors.
Cash Lee reached base and scored five times for Northgate despite having just one hit. He walked three times, was hit once, and reached on a dropped third strike that was overthrown at first base. Israel Leon reached four times, knocking in five runs behind going 3 for 4 with a walk. Noah Navarro was 3 for 4 with two RBI, a double and four runs; Davien Fagundes knocked in three runs and Isaiah Lynch was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a double.
Northgate begins the double-elimination seven-team NorCal State All-Star Tournament on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at Recreation Park in Healdsburg.
