Jr. Buffs blast Jr. Spartans in Central Valley Youth varsity game

Josiah Moreno and Brody Carabello combined for more than 250 total yards and posted three touchdowns apiece in a 40-6 Manteca Jr. Buffaloes win over the Lathrop Jr. Spartans in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action on Saturday.

Moreno (eight carries, 111 yards; one reception, 35 yards) scored on runs of 2, 35 and 43 yards. Carabello (six carries, 47 yards; 7 of 10 passing, 74 yards) ran for scores of 4 and 13 yards and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Leiland Riggelman.

Christian Chavez posted five tackles for Manteca with four apiece for Carabello, Boce Hiatt and Brixton Ortiz.

 

Manteca Cowboys 25, Tracy Buccaneers 6

Darien East scored on a 93-yard run for the Cowboys and he also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

East tallied 126 yards on nine carries.

Manteca’s Nehemiah Tomanogi (88 yards passing) threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Antione III and Darrion scored on a 6-yard run.

East made 10 tackles with three each for Darrion Brown and Aiden Spino. Elias Lopez made an interception

 

Junior varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 16, Jr. Spartans 7

Manteca’s Blake Scalise was 5 of 8 passing and ran for 72 yards with a touchdown.

Scalise scored on a 43-yard scramble and Vicente Diaz (68 yards rushing) scored on a 2-yard run.

Gabriel Ramirez and for 59 yards for the Cowboys. Santino Sanchez added 38 yards rushing and John Ellis ran for 17 yards.

Manoah Ellis led the Manteca defense with five tackles. Grayson Keller added four stops with three apiece for Jose Rivera, Nicholas Jimenez and Jacob Hernandez and two each for Ethan Bonderer and Luke Scalise.

 

Cowboys 15, Buccaneers 12

Manteca led 15-12 at halftime and held on for the win.

Elijah Abadan returned a kickoff 50 yards for a Cowboys touchdown and Erian Johnson Jr. (21 carries, 51 yards) scored on a 3-yard run. Terrance Montgomery’s two-point conversion kick put the game out of reach. Jonathan Morales tallied 41 yards on nine carries.

Bryant Lewis led the Manteca defense with five tackles. Morales, Mateo Salcido and Devin Cortinas added four stops apiece with three each for Elijah Abadan (fumble recovery) and Erian Johnson Jr. Terrance Montgomery made an interception.

 

Rookies

 

Buccaneers 32, Cowboys 13

The Cowboys could not manage a score until the fourth quarter and by that time it was too late.

Manteca’s A.J. Aguirre gained 67 yards on 12 carries. Max Rios (touchdown) added 65 yards on four carries and Mateo Gavino (touchdown) gained 56 yards on seven carries.

Rolando Ruelas totaled eight tackles for the Cowboys followed by Mateo Gavino and Fernando Ceja with six apiece and five for Stevens Charvell.

 

Jr Buffaloes 19, Jr. Spartans 0

Quinnie Dunbar scored a touchdown for the Jr. Buffaloes, made nine tackles, forced and recovered a fumble.

Manteca’s Trenton Fitzhugh threw for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Dennis Johnson had a 35- yard touchdown reception and DeShon Benton Jr. made an 18-yard touchdown catch. Quinnie Dunbar’s touchdown run was 5 yards.

Jake Husband and Benton Jr. tallied five tackles apiece. Dennis Johnson (fumble recovery) made four tackles with three apiece for Adrian Reyes and Frankie Archuleta. each had three stops a piece.
