Manteca Park Golf Course is currently holding a Hole in One Challenge to support the Manteca Jr. Golf program.
Golfers who pay a $5 entry fee prior to their round have an opportunity to compete in the challenge at Hole 8, a 148-yard Par 3.
No. 8 is both Manteca Park’s most challenging and beautiful hole, as the tee box sits at the edge of a large lake with the green waiting on the other side.
Golfers that place their shot within the length of the flag stick receive a $25 gift certificate to the Manteca Golf Shop.
If a shot is placed within two feet of the hole, the golfer receives a $150 gift certificate to the Golf Shop and a $100 donation in the golfer’s name will be donated to the Manteca Jr. Golf program.
The big prize, of course, comes with a rare hole in one.
If a golfer sinks his or her tee shot, the prize is $5,000 in cash, a $2,500 credit to the Manteca Golf Shop and a $2,500 donation to Manteca Jr. Golf.
The challenge is being officiated electronically with the Verishot camera system.
Players are provided a code after paying their entry fee and after the shot is placed on the eighth green, the golfer keys in the code and the Verishot system confirms the shot placement.
All prizes are ready by day’s end in the Manteca Park pro shop.
Professionals are welcome to enter, and will be paid in cash for all of their prizes by mail.
The Manteca Jr. Golf program is designed for area youth to learn the fundamentals of the game from the professionals at Manteca Park in three separate sessions each summer.
Many local high school standouts have benefitted from the program over the years including Jay Brink, Kyle Harman, Julie Shutler, Krysta Clark and Luis Zepeda.
