Yes on Q effort surpasses $100K to push passage
Manteca businesses, labor groups, firefighters, local residents, youth sports organizations, and builders have a lot riding on Measure Q on Tuesday’s ballot. As of Oct. 27, the Yes on Q Committee has now raised $103,549.30 to fund its campaign to gain passage of the 20-year long three-quarter cent sales tax on Nov. 5.

Cowboys tame Stockton Panthers with balanced attack, defense

 The Manteca Cowboys varsity used a balanced attack to roll the Stockton Panthers 42-0 in opening-round Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action on Saturday at Bear Creek High School.

Elias Lopez (50 yards passing) ran in a score from 1 yard out and hit Tobias Cox with a 30-yard touchdown pass. Bryant Lewis (50 yards rushing) scored on a 15-yard run, Elijah Abadon (48 yards rushing) added a 31-yard scoring run, Johnathan Morales scored from 9 yards out and Giovanni Perry rounded out the Cowboys scoring with a 2-yard run.

Manteca’s Andres Duque made six tackles and a fumble recovery, Adabon made four stops and Nicolas Rangel (fumble recovery) three.


Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 57,

Mudville Outlaws 0

Manteca’s Vinny Diaz and Santino Sanchez each ran for two scores and made a touchdown catch at the Grape Bowl in Lodi.

Sanchez (three carries, 149 yards) scored on runs of 50 and 75 yards, pulling in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Blake Scalise. Diaz ran for 16- and 87-yard touchdowns and made a 19-yard touchdown catch from Scalise. Erian Johnson Jr. added a 47-yard touchdown and D’Angelo Riego made a 32-yard field goal.

Isileli Lolohea made six tackles for the Jr. Buffaloes. Jacob Hernandez (fumble recovery) and Johnson Jr. made five tackles each with an interception apiece for Jesus Bermejo and Gabe Ramirez.


Junior varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 30, Outlaws 6

Manteca’s Quinnie Dunbar scored two touchdowns.

Dunbar (four carries, 69 yards) scored on runs of 12 and 41 yards. Brach Carabello (five passes, 26 yards) threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Dennis Johnson. Navi Murillo added a 5-yard touchdown run and Dominic Love notched a safety.

Murillo and John Ellis made four tackles apiece and Grayson Calvillo-Nolan three. Grayson Keller, Grant Catalano and Gabriel Torres contributed on defense.


Rookies

Ceres Bulldogs 18, Cowboys 14

Manteca’s Adriel Cedano and Donavyn Wlliams each scored a touchdown at Bear Creek High’s Podesto Field.

Cedano gained 38 yards on four carries, and Williams (three tackles) returned an interception for a touchdown. Mateo Gavino ground out 126 yards on 14 carries, and Romeo Huerta chipped in 56 yards on four carries.

Gavino, Cedano and Angelo Martinez made four tackles apiece and Hudson Green added three stops.


Starts

Jr. Buffaloes 47, Lodi Jr. Flames 0

Manteca’s Brixxton Fryer romped to a 200-yard day, rushing for two touchdowns at Podesto Field.

Fryer (15 carries, 213 yards) scored on runs of 14 and 60 yards. Carson Bouslog (four completions, 42 yards; three carries, 33 yards) scored on a 3-yard quarterback keeper and threw touchdown passes of 6 yards to Tiger Singh (four receptions, 35 yards) and 20 yards to Malachi Wright. Carter Louis (four carries, 23 yards) scored from 4 yards out, and Harrison Catalono (five carries, 46 yards) added a 10-yard touchdown run.

Rowan Dahle paced the Jr. Buffaloes defense with seven tackles. Cooper Calvillo-Nolan added four stops with three apiede for Gabriel Hernandez, Louis and Anthony Cazares. Catalano and Taj Valentine both contributed to the defense.


Cowboys 39, Lathrop Jr. Spartans 19

Manteca offensive linemen Cain Torres, Kota Lang, Daya Bajwa, Alonzo Garcia, Matthew Abundiz and Elijah Mata paved the way for the win at Bennie Gatto Field.

Jackson Batterson (143 yards rushing) and Aaron Hernandez each scored two touchdowns for the Jr. Buffaloes. Frankie Nieto added a 76-yard touchdown run, and Mario German scored from 38 yards out.

Manteca’s Aiden Gonzales forced and recovered a fumble, and Nieto made an interception. Jackson George and Luis Quezada contributed to the defense.
