Cowboys, Jr. Buffs to meet in Central Valley Youth varsity Super Bowl

Bryant Lewis scored a pair of touchdowns Saturday to lead the Manteca Cowboys varsity to a 27-0 semifinal win over the Ceres Jr. Bulldogs in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action at Dino Cunial Field.

Lewis (75 yards rushing) scored on runs of 8 and 15 yards. Terrance Montgomery (four carries, 90 yards) added a 72-yard touchdown scamper and Elias Lopez (90 yards rushing) found Tobias Cox with a 16-yard touchdown throw.

Devin Cortinas paced the Cowboys defense. Johnathan Morales (seven tackles) and Giovanni Perry (four tackles) each made an interception.

Manteca advances to the Super Bowl on Sunday against the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes on Saturday at 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton.


Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 32, Tracy Buccaneers 16

The Manteca offensive line of Isieli Lolohea, Isaac Fountain, Isaiah Fountain, Keoni Oliver, Michael Casillas and D’Angelo Riego led the Jr. Buffaloes to 215 rushing yards at Ceres High School.

Erian Johnson Jr. (24 carries, 144 yards) put Manteca up 16-0 in the first period with 1- and 4-yard touchdown runs. Vinny Diaz (six carries, 60 yards; 16 yards receiving) scored on a 45-yard run and Santino Sanchez pulled in a 15-yard touchdown throw from Blake Scalise (52 yards passing).

Johnson Jr. and Lolohea made seven tackles apiece. Kyle Acker (two interceptions), Oliver and Isaac Fountain Sanchez each added five stops.

The Jr. Buffaloes and the Manteca Cowboys will face each other in the Super Bowl at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Cowboys defense was led by Jackson Batterson with five tackles. Mario German and Aaron Hernandez added three stops apiece.
