Manteca saddles Lodi with defeat in playoffs

Manteca Cowboys varsity hammered the Lodi Colts 34-6 Saturday in opening-round action of the Northern California Youth Football playoffs. 

 Keona Cayode scored three touchdowns for the Cowboys and Dylan Lee threw for two. Cayode scored on runs of 3 and 45 yards and Lee (4 of 5 passing, 66 yards) found Cayode with a 13 yard touchdown pass. Angel Ramirez pulled in a 38-yard touchdown pass from Lee and Emilio Perez added a 2-yard touchdown run. 

 Colton Stonum made an interception for Manteca and Marques Callahan contributed to the offense.

 

Junior Varsity

Manteca Cowboys 13, Modesto Raiders 12

 The Cowboys boasted two 100-yard rushers.

 Manteca’s Bryson Davis racked up 146 yards on 11 carries with a 14-yard touchdown. Izayah Houston added 104 yards on 12 carries and Omar Diaz scored on an 18-yard run and had the extra-point run that proved to be the difference in the game. Gabriel Flores chipped in 67 yards on nine carries.

 Gavin Goodwin led the Cowboys defense with 14 tackles. Davis (fumble recovery) added 13 stops; Jaden Gallego 12; Nico Salcido 10; Isaac Alvarez nine; Blake Mount, Donovan Jones, Gabriel Flores, Santana Stevenson and Morgan Barcliff made seven tackles apiece; Houston (interception) and Santana Stevenson had six each; Ivan Alvarez five and Landon Butler four.  

 

Rookies

Manteca Cowboys 35, Tracy Rampage 12


Anthony Morales ran for two touchdowns and threw for one for the Cowboys.

 Morales (five carries, 36 yards) posted 1- and 16-yard scoring runs and had a 9-yard touchdown throw Robbie Espinosa. Christopher Gallego (12 carries, 64 yards) ran in scores from 1 yard and 4 yards out and Jeremy Ap’e tallied 46 yards on six carries.

 The Manteca defense did not give up a score as both Rampage scores came on special teams. Dylan Stonum led the Cowboys with six tackles and a fumble recovery, Jeremy Ap’e had four stops and Julian Constance and Koa Rodrigues made three tackles each. Issac Kempf had a 40-yard interception return but got pulled down at the Tracy 2-yard line.

 

Starts

Manteca Cowboys 21, Modesto Raiders 14

 Elias Lopez lit up the Raiders for 128 yards on 20 carries with a pair of touchdowns.

 Lopez scored on runs of 20 and 33 yards and Mario Quezada (six carries, 47 yards) added a 37-yard touchdown run.

 Lopez made nine tackles and a fumble recovery. Elias Daniel Bass added six tackles and Quezada forced a fumble and made five tackles.

 

Manteca Jr. Timberwolves 48, Lodi Colts 6

 Elijah Pugh and Brody Carabello combined for three touchdowns for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Pugh (three carries, 84 yards) had a 33-yard scoring run, Carabello (three carries, 66 yards) scored from 33 yards out and Carabello hit Pugh with a 58-yard scoring pass. Kendall Sweet-Mallory scored on a 23-yard run and a 60-yard interception return. Leiland Riggelman (two carries, 79 yards) had a 56-yard touchdown run and Adriel Cooks scored on his only carry for a 36-yard touchdown.   

Cooks made four tackles, Alex Espinoza three with Tino Torres, Elijah Pugh, Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz, John Ellis and Riggelman all contributing on defense. Carabello recovered a fumble.

Junior Varsity

Ripon Chiefs 46, Tuolumne bears 0

 Kaden MacDannald, Tyler Paul Wentworth, and Seth Van Dyk scored two touchdowns apiece for the Chiefs.

 MacDannald (10 carries, 86 yards) had touchdown runs of 20 and 32 yards, Van Dyk (seven carries, 58 yards) scored from 2 and 33 yards out and Wentworth (four carries, 40 yards; two receptions, 47 yards) had 10- and 36-yard scoring runs. Xzavier Clark scored on a 24-yard pass from Garrison Reis (4 for 5 passing, 72 yards).

 Jesus Ochoa led Ripon with six tackles, a fumble recovery and a tipped pass. Rylan McDonald, Van Dyk and Clark (interception) had four stops each, Wentworth three and MacDannald two.

Issas Covarrubias scored a touchdown for the Raiders. 

 Manteca’s Marshal Singleton, Jacob Rameriz, Dean Sortonis, David Paras, Aeryk Snyder and Geno Acevedo contributed on offense.

 Dean Sortonis made six tackles for the Raiders with Colton Silva, Jose Rivera, Jordan Murphy, 

Sergio Hernandez, Issac Penaloza, David Paras, Aeryk Snyder, Jovani Avalos, Jacob Rameriz and Marshal Singleton all contributed on defense for Manteca. 

 

Rookies 

Raiders, Wolves (no score kept at this level). 

 DeAndre Patterson gained 65 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns for the Raiders. 

 Manteca’s Jaxon Hetrick had 63 yards rushing and a touchdown and Ayden Brush ran for 55 yards and scored a touchdowns. 

  Xavier Davis (fumble recovery) Brush, Patterson and Hetrick all contributed on defense for the Raiders.
