Brody Carabello of the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes scored on the last play of the first half and the first drive of the third quarter to key a 19-12 Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer varsity win over the Manteca Cowboys at Guss Schmiedt Field.
Carabello (10 carries, 108 yards; 27 yards passing) scored on a 10-yard run just inside the right pylon with no time left on the second-quarter clock and he capped the opening drive of the second half with 13-yard scamper just inside the left pylon for a 12-0 lead. After the Cowboys tied the game at 12-12, Adriel Cooks powered in a 15-yard touchdown run to cement the Jr. Buffaloes win. Josiah Moreno added 75 yards on nine carries for the Jr. Buffaloes.
Brody Carabello led the Jr. Buffaloes defense with 10 tackles followed by Brixton Ortiz (nine tackles), Brennan McMichael and Christian Chavez (seven apiece), Bode Hiatt (six) and Isiah Fountain and Isaac Fountain (three each).
The Cowboys scored on two long runs in the third period to tie the game. Darien East (15 carries, 110 yards) scampered 61 yards and Adrian Sena (seven carries, 75 yards) scored from 44 yards out.
East and Joseph Antione made four tackles apiece for the Cowboys. Maleriq de la Rosa added three stops with Noah Germann and Aiden Spino each recovering a fumble.
Junior varsity
Cowboys 30, Jr. Buffaloes 0
Following a scoreless first quarter, Luis Vega returned a blocked Jr. Buffaloes punt for a touchdown in the second period and the Cowboys were off and running.
Erian Johnson Jr. (nine carries, 89 yards) scored the next two Cowboys touchdowns on runs of 15 and 52 yards. Terrance Montgomery capped the scoring with a 32-yard scoring run. Jonathan Morales added 46 yards on four carries.
Johnson Jr. and Bryant Lewis paced the Cowboys defense with six tackles. Devin Cortinas added five stops with four apiece for Vega, Mateo Salcido and Angelo Cervantes. Elijah Abadan made three tackles and Jonathan Morales recovered a fumble.
Vincent Diaz paced the Jr. Buffaloes offense with 72 rushing yards. Santino Sanchez, John Ellis and Blake Scalise also contributed on offense.
Diaz led the Jr. Buffaloes defense with seven tackles and Keoni Oliver added four stops with defensive contributions from Manoah Ellis, Nicholas Jiminez and Gabriel Ramirez.

Quinnie Dunbar recovered a Cowboys fumble on the opening kickoff and then scampered 42 yards for a score on the next play.
Dunbar added scoring runs of 25 and 40 yards. Trenton Fitzhugh added an 11-yard touchdown run and DeShon Benton Jr. capped the Jr. Buffaloes scoring parade with 18-yard touchdown run.
Frankie Archuleta and Dennis Johnson made six tackles apiece for the Jr. Buffaloes. Brock McCurdy added five stops, Benton Jr. (forced fumble) four and Adrian Reyes-Echeverria three. A.J. Haines and Trenton Fitzhugh each added a fumble recovery.
Mateo Gavino led the Cowboys with six carries for 39 yards. Max Rios, German Patron and Angelo Martinez also contributed on offense.
Stevens Charvell posted 12 tackles with an interception for the Cowboys. Fernando Ceja added seven stops, Alex Gomes (fumble recovery) six, Angelo Martinez five, and Max Rios four.
Gabriel Gomes scored on a 40-yard run late in the fourth quarter for the Cowboys.
