 The Manteca Cowboys varsity used a balanced attack to blank the Lathrop Spartans 30-0 in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action.

Manteca’s Elias Lopez (56 yards rushing, 75 yards passing) hit Devin Cortinas with a 53-yard scoring pass, Bryant Lewis ran in a score from 1 yard out, Jonathan Morales spotted Tobias Cox for a 35-yard touchdown pass, and Elijah Abadan returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Jonathan Morales and Abadan made six tackles apiece, with four apiece for Lewis and Devin Cortinas.


Manteca Jr. Buffaloes 50, Lodi Jr. Flames 0

Manteca’s Erian Johnson Jr. scored three touchdowns, and Blake Scalise added two.

Johnson Jr., (six carries, 95 yards) scored on runs of 6, 10 and 43 yards with Scalise (four carries, 86 yards; 1 pass, 46 yards) scoring on a 4-yard run and throwing a 46-yard touchdown pass to D’Angelo Riego. Vinny Diaz (three carries, 33 yards) scored on a 20-yard run and Santino Sanchez (three carries, 26 yards) added a 15-yard touchdown run.

Johnson Jr. made seven tackles, Diaz (interception) and Isiah Fountain five apiece with four each for Isaac Fountain, Adrian Tamayo (fumble recovery) and Sanchez. Kyle Acker added an interception.


Junior varsity

Jr. Spartans 26, Cowboys 12

Lathrop’s Logan Martinez ran for three touchdowns.

Martinez ran for 146 yards on 14 carries with touchdown runs of 2, 29 and 47 yards. Zyann Reyno (13 carries, 45 yards) added a 3-yard touchdown run. Jordan Romo added 28 yards on six carries.

Alius Lopez made seven tackles for the Jr. Spartans, Carlos Gutierrez and Elijah Arreola added six stops apiece with four for Manuel Lupercio (fumble recovery). Kenneth Certuche forced a fumble.

Manteca’s Izaiyah Faye (eight carries, 34 yards) scored on a 30-yard run, and Aiden Howe (six carries, 27 yards; two passes, 28 yards) on a 2-yard run. Christian Hernandez added 28 yards on two carries.

Faye made six tackles, Hernandez five, Jack Benedetti and Josiah Hopkins four apiece with three for Rafael Nunez. Elias Fregia contributed on defense.


Jr. Buffaloes 22, Jr. Flames 12

Manteca’s Aiden Freitas returned a fourth-quarter interception 47 yards for a touchdown to seal the win.

Quinnie Dunbar (eight carries, 77 yards) scored on a 48-yard, and Maverick Brum (eight carries, 31 yards) added a 27-yard touchdown run. John Ellis added 21 yards on seven carries.
Freitas (fumble recovery), Ellis and Navi Murillo and John Ellis made five tackles each, Jet Johnson four with three apiece for Brum and Ethan Bonderer. Dunbar, D.J. Benton and Grayson Calvillo all contributed on defense.


Rookies

Jr. Spartans 19, Cowboys 7

Lathrop’s Dominic Ramos scored a pair of touchdowns.

Ramos posted 158 yards on 10 carries with touchdown runs of 45 and 65 yards. Ben Tauheluhelu (8 carries, 51yard) added a 30-yard touchdown. Jessy Arceo chipped in 105 yards on five carries.

Denzel Taani made six tackles for the Jr. Spartans, Jace Williams four with three each for Exilas Jackson (interception) and Laguna.

Manteca’s main offensive output came on kickoff returns with Donavyn Williams returning on kick 60 yards for the lone Cowboys touchdown, and Choyce Galtney posting a 50-yard kickoff return. Romeo Huerta (six carries, 45 yards), Mateo Gavino (seven carries, 63 yards) and Galtney (four carries, 33 yards) rounded out the offensive attack.

Mateo Gavino made nine tackles for the Cowboys, Donavyn Williams and Hudson Green seven apiece, Angelo Martinez six and Daniel Salcedo five.


Jr. Buffaloes 35, Jr. Flames 0

Manteca’s Dre Johnson scored three touchdowns.

Johnson (eight carries, 75 yards) scored on runs of 5, 5 and 26 yards. Jeremiah Williams (five carries, 116 yards) added a 70-yard touchdown, and Steven Wynn Jr. (two caries, 48 yards) scored from 32 yards out. Brock McCurdy and Trenton Fitzhugh contributed to the offense.

Dre Johnson (fumble recovery) and Jakob Husband made five tackles apiece for the Cowboys and Chris Antellas four. Jeremiah Williams recovered a fumble, and Michael Gulley made an interception.


Starts

Cowboys 40, Jr. Spartans 12

The Manteca offensive line of Daya Bajwa, Kota Lang, Cain Torres, Elijah Mata and Matthew Abundiz paved the way for Frankie Nieto to score five touchdowns.

The Cowboys defense was led by Jackson Batterson and Andrew Cypert with three tackles each. Matthew Abundiz, Mario German, Cain Torres and Abraham Benavides all contributed to the defense.

Lathrop’s Joshua Certuche (six carries, 149 yards) scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 60 and 70 yards. Tristan Chelucci chipped in 38 yards on five carries.

Viliami Lauaki led the Jr. Spartans defense with eight tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Nathan Devoe added four stops and Victor Kohler three.


Jr. Buffaloes 43, Jr. Flames 12

Manteca’s Brixxton Fryer rumbled for five touchdowns with three coming in the second period.

Fryer (11 carries, 239 yards) ran for a 44-yard first-period touchdown, and then in the second

period he raced 8, 20 and 48 yards for touchdowns, adding a 3-yard scoring run in the third quarter, while Tiger Singh scored from 3 yards out. Carson Bouslog added 50 yards rushing on three carries and Carter Louis added 40 yards on four carries.

Gabe Hernandez and Christian Cerna made seven tackles apiece for the Jr. Buffaloes. Harrison Catalano added four stops and Fryer three. Cooper Calvillo, Easton Franco, Carter Louis, Angelo Lopez, and Rowan Dahle each contributed to the defense.


Trans-Valley Youth Football League

Big Valley Sabres novice 13, Ripon Knights 6

Tate Gallardo raced 74 yards in the fourth period for a Ripon touchdown.

Gallardo gained 102 yards on five carries.

Harvey Chohan made eight tackles for the Knights. Elijah Hernandez and Titus Brown added five stops apiece and Jonny Mulkey recovered a fumble and made three tackles.


Delta Youth Football

Weston Ranch Jr. Cougars junior novice 19, Manteca Chargers 13 (2 OT)

Tied 7-7 after regulation, each team scored six points in the first overtime only for Manteca to be held scoreless in the second overtime.

Jameson Vargas (six carries, 67 yards) scored both Chargers touchdowns on a pair of 10-yard runs. Shayne Sutherland Jr. added 41 yards on three carries.

Manteca’s Legend Johnson made six tackles, Sutherland, Jr. (fumble recovery) and Izaiah Shortridge five apiece with three each for Aiden Reyes (forced fumble) and Jameson Vargas.
