MASL: Fury unleashed in win

Ivy Benson and Tyanne Woodyard-Smith scored two goals apiece as the Manteca Fury under-19 girls soccer team distanced themselves from the Manteca Revolution on Saturday, 6-1.
Benson scored struck early for the Fury, scoring the team’s first and third goals of the game, while Woodyard-Smith notched both of her scores late.
Benson assisted Woodyard-Smith’s first goal.
Joanna Martinez (assist) and Jennifer Hoffman rounded out the scoring for the Fury, which pelted the Revolution goal with 34 shots. Kristen Robinson and Carla Ochoa had assists, while goalie Kareena Escartin had an assist and two saves.

Scoz carries Cowboys
Alex Scoz rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys starts’ 12-6 victory over the Flames on Saturday. Scoz’s impact was felt all over the field. He also paced the Cowboys with six tackles. Nick Luna finished with 25 yards rushing and defensive tackle Josiah Lott had two sacks. Angel Ramirez and Isaac Scoz had four tackles apiece.

Manteca scored three times each with two outs on Friday while getting gutsy pitching efforts from Cameron Jimenez and Jimmy Burns in a 3-1 win over visiting Oakdale that has the Buffaloes leading the pack in a heated race for the Valley Oak League title.
