The Manteca Jaguars’ pint-sized players put on quite a show Saturday at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.
The Peewee Jaguars raced past the Central Valley 49ers 24-6, highlighting a banner weekend for the Manteca program.
The varsity and junior varsity teams also won by large margins, as the Jaguars completed a weekend sweep of the 49ers.
The junior varsity team won 28-6, while varsity pinned a 39-6 decision on the scoreboard.
The Peewee’s victory was the closest of the three, but there was no shortage of excitement.
Ryan Borgeson rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Lorenzo Ceja had a 19-yard touchdown pass.
Jesse Miranda anchored a defensive unit that surrendered zero points and just three first downs.
The 49ers’ only points came on special teams.
Junior Varsity
The Jaguars rushed for 273 yards in a 28-6 victory, including 102 yards and two touchdowns from Angel Garay.
Desmond Cannaday added 83 yards and a touchdown.
Rookies
It was a special afternoon for Frankie Teicheira IV, who played for the first time in the stadium named after his late uncle.
Teicheira finished with two tackles.
The Jaguars rushed for more than 310 yards and six touchdowns, though an official score isn’t kept at the rookie level.
Kainoa Ontai led the way with four touchdowns, including a pick-6 on defense. Luis Mercado, Ricardo Villalvazo and Gabriel Arteaga each had one touchdown.
Noel Herrera led the defense with four solo tackles, while Marques Callahan and Alex Gatty had three apiece.
MANTECA COWBOYS
Junior varsity
The Cowboys improved to 4-0 in the DYSA NorCal Youth Football League with their 12-6 victory over the Galt Jr. Hawks.
Manteca did enough with its balanced attack to get the close win. Jordan Doyle rambled for 119 yards and a touchdown on his 17 carries. Anthony Martinez rushed in the other TD.
Quarterback Manuel Rodriguez completed seven of nine passes for 111 yards. Gabriel Vollotton paced the defense with nine tackles. Mathew Pilkay contributed four tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
Starts
The youngest squad in the organization blanked Galt 27-0 and is also undefeated.
Manteca rode Alex Scoz for 103 yards and all four of its touchdowns. Nick Luna (45 yards) and quarterback BJ Davis (39 rushing yards) also keyed the attack.
Matthew Wilcox had four tackles on defense, while Isaac Scoz recovered a fumble.
