The Ripon Christian volleyball team ended a long night Tuesday with a 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 11-15 defeat against visiting Tracy.

The two lower-level matches also went the distance, with Tracy winning the freshman match and Ripon Christian taking the JV.

It was another good learning experience for the young Knights, who have almost an entirely new squad after claiming back-to-back state titles. They went 1-3 in the Preseason Stockton Classic this past weekend.

“We are finding a rhythm and continuing to work on consistency and intensity of play,” RC coach Kayla Kootstra said. “Tracy was a solid team and was able to use a few big service runs to come out ahead.”

Paige Van Hofwegen paced the Knights with 16 kills and 20 digs. Morgan Schenk added 13 kills, and Alanna Blanco racked up 45 assists. Brynn Bohn served up four aces, and Reagan Van Der Hoek had three blocks.

Ripon 3, Los Banos 0

The Indians quickly did away with host Los Banos, 25-7, 25-8, 25-9.

Adrianna Dorn led them with 13 kills, five aces, four digs and a solo block. Katelyn Bogetti had 15 assists and four digs.

Jorie Eskes (four kills) and Olivia Newman (two kills) contributed four blocks apiece. Kennedy Everhart added seven assists, three digs and two aces.

Ripon also prevailed in the JV match, 18-25, 27-25, 16-14.

Lathrop 3, Franklin 0

Elizabeth Andrade came up just short of a triple-double Monday in the Spartans’ 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 season-opening sweep in Stockton.

The senior outside hitter rung up 11 kills, nine service aces, nine digs and two aces. Erin Chunn contributed 10 kills to the attack, and Ayden Petroff had 20 assists and five digs. Justine Mabutas turned in 11 digs and three assists.

Junior varsity

Franklin 2, Lathrop 0

Lathrop was swept, 25-16, 25-21.

Aniyah McGriff (block) and Brianna Valencia each had two kills for the Spartans. Araya Carson chipped in two aces. Sarah Garcia added five digs and two assists.

Cassidy Fa’ali’i amassed seven aces to go with two assists, as Lathrop cruised to a 25-12, 25-7 win.
