The Sierra High varsity volleyball team will be under new guidance for the first time since 1994 after naming Trinity Johnson as the new volleyball coach recently.
Johnson takes over for retired head coach Tevani Liotard in her first assignment at the varsity level. The Timberwolves are coming off of a postseason berth a season ago, and will look to vie for the top spot in Valley Oak League play.
Johnson is a Sierra High graduate who played volleyball, soccer, and softball in her years as a Sierra student-athlete. Johnson takes the jump to the varsity level after guiding the sophomore program under Liotard since the 2008 season.
“I am really excited and honored to get a chance to lead this program,” Johnson said. “I know that I have some big shoes to fill, but I am confident that we can be successful.
“We know it will be an adventure, but I have worked with all of these girls before, so I am prepared for the challenge.”
Johnson enjoyed a great deal of success on the lower levels, coaching next season’s senior class as both freshman and sophomores to top-half VOL finishes.
