Sierra boys start season with high-scoring defeats

Mitch Van Zwaluwenburg fired six goals for Sierra on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome visiting Tracy in a 19-10 loss.

Jacob Herren accounted for 12 of Tracy’s goals. Erfan Ballew contributed two goals for Sierra. Troy Morrow and Moises Alvarado each had one.

It was a tight match to start with the Bulldogs leading 3-2 after the first period. Van Zwaluwenburg and Herren did all the scoring. Tracy broke it open with an eight-goal barrage in the second quarter to lead 11-4 at halftime.

Sierra girls team was defeated, 8-1. Lauren Ellis spoiled the shutout for Tracy with her third-period tally.

 

Mountain House boys 20, Sierra 18

Last Friday, the Timberwolves trailed 11-6 at halftime and nearly pulled off the comeback.

Van Zwaluwenburg netted 11 goals to lead the charge. Moises Alvarado, Erfan Ballew Bayan Blue and Gabriel Monasterio chimed in with two each. Zach Walmer scored once.

 

Sierra girls 13, Mountain House 4

The Timberwolves were ahead 10-0 at halftime before Mountain House erupted for all four of its goals in the third quarter.

Amy Fadeff finished with a team-high four goals. Gianna Ramos finished with three, Kiera Brink and Bianca Fraser turned in two apiece. Ellis struck for a goal in the second half. Steph Perez added one.
