ROUNDUP: Spartans stifle Johansen for flag football shutout

Lathrop has one more tune-up before facing one of the top flag football teams in the state.

The Spartans notched their third shutout in four Western Athletic Conference games on Wednesday, stomping Johansen 34-0 in Modesto.

Dayanna Martinez led the defense with six tackles and two pass breakups, while Tianna Gonzalez had two interceptions.

Quarterback Luz De Luna completed four touchdown passes to Kianna Quintero (four receptions, 45 yards), Faith Allen (1-20), Jaleiyah Ray (2-20) and Aaliyah Thompson (2-32). De Luna totaled 130 passing yards and was intercepted once.

Sareah Reed contributed 48 rushing yards on three attempts.
Lathrop (4-0 WAC, 9-1 overall) hosts Manteca tonight for a non-league contest. Next Monday, undefeated Livingston visits for a first-place battle. The Wolves are ranked 12th in the state and No. 19 nationally, according to MaxPreps.


GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Lathrop 3, Johansen 0

The Spartans (4-0 WAC, 8-3 overall) coasted to the 25-5, 25-13, 25-20 home win.

Elizabeth Andrade netted 15 kills, 12 digs, six aces and a block. Erin Chunn added eight kills, four digs and three aces.

Ayden Petroff produced 23 assists, five aces, two kills and three digs. Alyssa Roller pitched in seven assists, and Justine Mabutas led the defense with 13 digs.

Ammyra Ammouri highlighted the shutout with five sacks.

Quarterback Morgan Hegler passed for 45 yards and a touchdown and added 37 rushing yards and another TD.

Cassidy Rudd contributed a receiving touchdown. Marianna Coon collected 70 rushing yards and a touchdown.


JV girls volleyball

Lathrop 2, Johansen 0

Lathrop held on for the 25-22, 25-21 victory and was led by the all-around play of Vivianna Salcedo. She accumulated eight assists, seven digs and four aces.

Brianna Valencia hammered five kills to go with four digs. Araya Carson contributed three kills, three digs and two aces. Rosemary Libaste picked up six digs.
