The visiting Tigers (6-8 VOL, 10-10 overall) opened up with three runs in the first inning at Jack Thomson Stadium, and pitching Max Medina took it from there. He struck out seven and gave up one unearned run on three hits and a walk over six innings.

SOFTBALL

In Modesto, the visiting Spartans (6-4, 9-6 overall) set the tone in this wild WAC tilt, scoring five runs in the first inning. It was back and forth from there, and Lathrop pulled away with four runs in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Johansen (2-9, 2-12) threatened in the bottom of the seventh with seven runs but came up short.

Luz DeLuna did much of the damage for Lathrop, as she smacked two doubles, plated three runs and drove in seven in her prolific 5-for-5 effort. Kendall Stewart went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Aubree Martinez (2-for-3) hit a triple, knocked in three runs and plated four. Ja’Leiyah Ray scored three runs and stole three bases.
