ROUNDUP: Ripon’s Seefeldt takes second on TVL mid-season golf tourney

Ripon’s Cameron Seefeldt was the individual runner-up, while Ripon Christian placed third as a team in the Trans-Valley League mid-season girls golf tournament Monday at Micke Grove Golf Links.

Medalist Valerie Quaid finished 15-over-par 87 for first-place Hilmar (411). Escalon (425) took second and was followed by Ripon Christian (431), Ripon (437), Hughson (478) and Orestimba (590).

Seefeldt paced Ripon with a 91. The Indians also got scoring contributions from Sienna Pimentel (104), Skylar Pimentel (116) and Dylann Ballard (126).

Julia Van Groningen’s 100 score led Ripon Christian. Following suit for the Knights were Brittany Dugo (112), Sophia Cheney (112) and Ellie Kowes (112).


Lathrop 269, Beyer 293

The Spartans won the Western Athletic Conference match at Dryden Park Golf Course in Modesto, getting a pair of 64s from Madison Dash and Yadira Hernandez.

Ashley Yuuki Abon Garcia chipped in with a 66, and Kriselle Matella scored a 75.

Beyer’s Noah Richardson was low medalist with a 60.


GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Ripon Christian 3, Escalon 1

Spearheaded by Paige Van Hofwegan’s double-double, the Knights (2-2, 8-11 overall) picked up an important Trans-Valley League win on the road, 25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 25-18.

The junior outside hitter finished with 15 kills and 16 digs. Setter Alanna Blanco turned in 39 assists and four aces. Brynn Bohn and Haley Kootstra contributed three blocks each, and Morgan Schenk added nine kills to the attack.


Lathrop 3, Livingston 0

At Livingston on Monday, the Spartans (5-0, 9-4 overall) continued their march through the WAC schedule with the 25-8, 25-15, 25-9 sweep.

Elizabeth Andrade led the way with nine kills, eight digs and two aces. Erin Chunn chipped in six kills and three digs.

Ayden Petroff produced 14 assists, six aces, three digs and a block. Justine Mabutas served eight aces to go with seven digs and two assists.


FLAG FOOTBALL

East Union 24, Patterson 20

Julianna Gaspar completed four touchdown passes, as the Lancers (4-1, 10-3 overall) escaped Patterson with the Valley Oak league win.

On the receiving end of those touchdowns were Ava Barrera, Larissa Harries, Caliyah Lopez and Journi Dixon.

The defense was anchored by Sophia Bretao, Kaylee Mejia and Barrera, who each had five tackles.


Sierra 46, Mountain House 12

Maitland Kohoutek did damage on both ends of scrimmage, throwing for four touchdowns while coming down with three interceptions for the host Timberwolves (4-1 VOL, 11-5 overall). She completed 11 of 16 passes for 202 yards and rushed for 22 more yards on three carries.

Freshman Tessa Zalunardo added 102 yards and three scores on 11-of-14 passing to go with 28 rushing yards.

Janessa Barnes caught seven passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns and had an interception on defense. Zoe Sutton also caught three TDs and finished with 92 yards on six receptions.

Taylor Zalunardo pulled 10 flags to lead the defense and had five receptions for 40 yards and a TD on the attack.


JV volleyball

Ripon Christian 2, Escalon 0

The Knights eked out the 25-23, 28-26 win at Escalon.

Eden Danhoff doled out seven kills. Annika Jung distributed 17 assists, and Lauren Mouw picked up 13 digs.

Escalon won the freshman match in three sets.


JV flag football

East Union 13, Patterson 0

Amirah Harrington hooked up with Andi Guibar and Lilliana Hancock once each for a touchdown, and the defense handled the rest in the Lancers’ VOL shutout win.


Frosh volleyball

Lathrop 2, Livingston 0

Lathrop rolled to the 25-16, 25-16 sweep.

Vivianna Salcedo recorded eight assists and seven digs. Sarah Garcia had eight digs and two aces.

Brianna Valencia led the attack with three kills and two aces while contributing three digs and a block to the defense. Taylor Johnwell and Zoha Ali added two kills each.


Lathrop 2, Livingston 0

It was all Spartans in the 25-7, 25-21 WAC sweep.

Andrea Lemus led them with five kills, three aces and two digs. Irshbir Bisla (two digs, block and Audrina Fisher (ace) each had three kills.

Alexza Bringas pitched in six assists, two aces and two digs. Lilyana Murillo had five assists and six digs.
