Ripon’s boys golf team captured the Oakdale 100 tournament title Monday at Oakdale Golf & Country Club, behind freshman Alan Bunchien’s 5-over-par 77.
The Indians turned in a four-man score of 317. Tourney host Oakdale was runner-up with a 333. Tracy (333) placed third, while Ripon’s JV (338) beat out Gregori by a stroke for fourth place.
Andrew Bogetti and Cru Sullivan contributed 79s for Ripon’s ‘A’ team. Vincent Uecker capped scoring with an 82.
The Indians’ second team was paced by Morgan McDonald’s 77. Ivan Castillo (85), Sam Stewart (97) and Kalvin Martin (89) rounded out scoring.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Ripon Christian 3, Escalon 0
The Knights (6-0, 17-8 overall) came out swinging, scoring on 16 kills and two aces in the opening set before coasting to the 25-8, 25-15, 25-14 victory.
Mason Tameling amassed 12 kills, two blocks and three aces. Isaiah Vander Woude registered nine kills and five blocks. Danny Lambdin distributed 29 assists. Darren Van Groningen pitched in with five kills, two blocks and three aces.
Manteca 3, Oakdale 0
Valley Oak League-leading Manteca (5-0, 13-5 overall) overpowered the visiting Mustangs (1-5, 3-20), 25-7, 25-10, 25-15.
Dennen Loureiro did much of the damage from the service line, where he registered 24 points including six aces.
Rob Hevener led the front row with five kills and four solo blocks. Anthony Abello added four kills, Aryan Singh had three and Manuel Campo two.
BASEBALL
Oakdale 1, Manteca 0
Georgia committed junior Landon Schutte rung up 10 strikeouts in his one-hit gem for visiting Oakdale (8-2 VOL, 11-6 overall), and he also drove in Griffin Costa for the lone run in the top of the first inning.
Manteca (7-3, 14-4) countered with sophomore ace Nate Slikker, who also pitched a one-hitter while striking out nine. Caleb Ortega connected for the Buffaloes’ only hit.
The series shifts to Oakdale on Wednesday.
JV boys volleyball
Manteca 2, Oakdale 0
It was all Buffaloes in the 25-8, 25-5 blowout.
Raul Carranza set the tone with a 12-point service run in the first game, and Andrew Woodruff collected 14 straight in the second.
Joseph Atalig added six kills to the attack.
