ROUNDUP: Ripon takes 1st in Wolfpack Invitational boys golf tourney

Ripon had two teams place in the top six during the Wolfpack Invitational boys golf tournament Monday at Tracy Golf & Country Club.

Twenty-one teams participated, with Ripon’s ‘A’ lineup scoring a 396 to edge out Tracy ‘A’ and its 408. Ripon ‘B’ finished sixth (437), while Lathrop took 13th (488).

Ripon ‘A’s’ Cru Sullivan was the individual runner-up with a 74. Chandler Frahm of Mountain House was low medalist with a 73.

Ripon’s Vincent Uecker placed fourth with a 76. He and Sullivan were followed by Andrew Bogetti (78), Richie Hughes (82) and Alan Bunchien (86).

The Indians’ ‘B’ squad was paced by a pair of 81s from Morgan McDonald and Kalvin Martin. Ethan Nascimento added an 88.

Brayden Beckman netted an 80 for Lathrop. Jared Isla contributed an 89, and Jayden Wall a 94.

Christian Dell’Osso from River Islands carded an 81. The Riptide did not field enough players for a team.


SOFTBALL

Ripon 13, Sonora 4

Host Sonora (0-5 Trans Valley League, 4-14 overall) put up a fight at the outset, taking an early lead while scoring twice in the third inning to tie it at 3-3.

It was all Indians (8-1, 11-7) from there.

Alana Hernandez provided much of the punch, going 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs and three RBIs. Clara Townsend was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

Angelina Martinez handled the pitching dutied, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven.


BASEBALL

Mountain House 2, Sierra 0

At Sierra’s Jack Thomson Stadium, the visiting Mustangs (1-13, 5-18-1 overall) were finally able to get their first Valley Oak League victory of the season thanks to a two-run double from Callahan Healy in the first inning.

Wyatt Bauer took the tough loss for Sierra (3-12, 6-16), striking out seven against three walks in a two-hitter. Mountain House’s Tommy Neri also went the distance, scattering six hits, while firing three strikeouts.

Brody Kossart went 2-for-3 to lead Sierra’s offense.
