ROUNDUP: Ripon no match for 2nd-seeded Casa Roble in boys basketball playoffs

 The Ripon boys basketball team could not keep pace with second-seeded Casa Roble on Friday, falling 82-56 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV quarterfinal.

The Rams (26-4) host No. 4 Ripon Christian next Tuesday in Orangevale.

Senior guard Benny Ambriz had his way with the No. 7 Indians (18-12), pouring in 27 points. Moses Oginni added 17 points to Casa Roble’s efficient scoring night, which marked the eighth time this season that the Rams broke the 80-point barrier. They made six 3-pointers and 10 of 13 free throws.

Marcus Madoski amassed 27 points in his final game for Ripon. Fellow senior Logan Lefebvre scored 11 points, Ethan Bauer had nine.


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

East Union 3, Gregori 1

The Lancers played better after dropping the first set, rolling to a 20-25, 25-18, 26-16, 25-10 win in their season opener at Gregori.

Guadalupe Reyes paced them with 10 kills, two blocks, four aces and seven service points. Gabe Holguin chimed in with seven kills and three blocks. Isaac Serrato and Keenan Yang split setting duties, coming up with 14 assists apiece.

East Union is back on the road next Tuesday against McNair.
