Ripon’s girls soccer team reached the semifinal round of the Pitman Extreme Tournament with two hard-earned wins on Friday.

The Indians improved to 10-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Patterson and a shootout win against Gregori. Ellena Parenti-Gomez was in goal for the two clean sheets and came up with two diving stops during the PK shootout.

Makena Pokorny also factored into both contests. It was her penalty that gave the Indians the 4-3 edge over Gregori (3-2-2), which had a 12-6 advantage in shot attempts during regulation.

Pokorny earlier headed in the lone goal against Patterson (5-3), putting away Ariana Daniels’ centered cross. Parenti-Gomez had four saves in each contest.

Ripon takes on Folsom powerhouse Vista del Lago (2-0-1) today at 10:20 a.m.

Luka Molin buried five 3s and finished with 20 points to pace Argonaut.

East Union 58, Johansen 21

In Modesto, the Lancers (4-2) rung up their fourth straight victory and held a fourth straight opponent to less than 40 points.

Johansen (2-6) was held to single digits in every quarter, as East Union raced to a 32-11 halftime lead.

“It was nice to get off to a nice start tonight rather than digging a hole like we have all season,” EU coach Charles Legan said. “We were locked in on defense. The buy-in is there and they understand what it takes to win games. The defense is leading to easy buckets on the offensive side.”

Bryan Howe led the way with 17 points, Dylan Lee had 15 and Alex Cuevas contributed 12. Coach Legan said Luke Weaver helped anchor the defense in the post.
