The reigning Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI champion Ripon Christian girls soccer team is off to a running start to the 2024-25 season, as it vanquished visiting Millennium 8-0 on Friday.
Freshman Naomi Hendricks led the Knights with a hat trick, and Lauren Mouw added a brace.
Fourth-year senior Addison DeJong had an early highlight, stealing a goal kick immediately putting away Ripon Christian’s second goal of the game. She later contributed two assists.
Alanna Blanco opened her team’s season account 10 minutes into the game, scoring off an assist from Tatum Sonke. Savannah Hoekman chipped in a goal.
Ripon Christian is back home next Monday against Beyer.
Sierra 2, Turlock 1
The Timberwolves escaped with the road win. Hailey Cruz put away the deciding goal with the assist from Peyton Duarte
Goalie Amaya Pacheco had five saves.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Ponderosa 55, East Union 40
The Lancers overcame a slow start and were within striking distance down three late in the third quarter before Ponderosa surged ahead for good in Shingle Springs.
Zyon Dupree Beasley and Shebra Rezaye each scored nine points for East Union. Ava Barrera and Haven Stone added seven apiece.
Brooklyn Nordquist paced the Bruins with 18 points. Casey Dreilling and Sammie Porter pitched in 13 and 12, respectively.

Pitman 44 Sierra 42
The Timberwolves nearly came back to steal the win after trailing 34-25 after three quarters/
Ryan Alves and Karanbir Bhandal poured in 12 points apiece. Alves knocked down four 3-pointers.
Frosh boys basketball
Sierra 39, Pitman 32
Sierra shook off some early rust, using a 22-4 run to jump ahead in the first half. Pitman jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
Jack Taylor tallied 10 points to lead the T’wolves, draining two key 3s in the fourth quarter. Kiran Tran contributed six points and six rebounds. Ozias Siga added six points and four rebounds while providing good defense.

East Union 24, Ponderosa 21
Camille Christensen led the Lancers with nine points, while Giselle Tuggles had seven points and four steals.
Andrea Nibler and Eloise Porter contributed three steals each.
