MODESTO – Ripon Christian managed just four fourthquarter points Saturday while Enochs buried a trio of 3-pointers in the final period as the Eagles came from behind to down the Knights 39-34 in the seventh- place game of Gregori High’s Third Annual Battle for the Hardwood girls’ basketball tournament.
“We continue to have some stretches of good basketball,” Ripon Christian coach Mike Van Der Molen said. “We want to make those stretches longer and longer but we get a little frustrated and sometimes go back to old habits which showed today.
“I know we’re in trouble when they’re banking in 3’s at the end of the shot clock, but we played pretty good defense for the most part. But we’re going to be fine and it’s all fixable.”
Reagan Van Der Hoek notched a doubledouble for the Knights (3-3) with 16 points and 13 rebounds along with two blocks and two steals. Teammate Laci Nydam flirted with a double-double at 10 points and seven rebounds with a steal with Cailyn Mouw (three points) grabbing six rebounds.
“It’s tough being down low against tough aggressive teams,” Van Der Hoek said. “I try and stay grounded and go up with two hands and bring it back strong because rebounds are a very important part of the game.”
“It’s important to me that I get to be a big part of that for the team.”
