ROUNDUP: Ripon boys, Sierra girls basketball teams win consolation finals

 Ripon’s boys basketball team won the consolation final of the Argonaut Tournament on Saturday, downing West Campus 54-46 behind another stellar effort from Marcus Madoski.

The senior forward/center amassed 28 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and three blocks and was named to the all-tournament team.

West Campus (4-6), led by Zach Villanueva’s 20 points, shot out to a 12-8 lead in the first quarter, bu the Indians got untracked offensively from there.

Logan Lefebvre contributed 13 points, six rebounds and two steals for Ripon (5-6). Tanner Hickman pulled down eight rebounds.

Ripon opens the 52nd Oakdale Rotary Classic with Riverbank on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.


Lathrop 73, Rancho San Juan 54

The Spartans (4-8) were able to salvage a win in the Dublin Tournament last weekend, rolling past Rancho San Juan (4-4) of Salinas in the seventh-place game.

Joseph Perkins led the way with 30 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Underclassmen Nicolas Arceo and Bryan Gamboa each chipped in with six points, while Justin Neal had five points and six rebounds.


GIRLS BASKETBALL

Sierra 67, Central Valley 21

The Timberwolves (5-5) went on a 25-4 tear in the second quarter to pull away, then shut out Central Valley (4-6) in the fourth quarter of the Livingston Tournament consolation final.

Janessa Barnes spearheaded the defensive effort, collecting eight rebounds, seven steals and three blocks to go with her 11 points. Mya Everett led all scorers with 18 points while adding seven boards and six steals. Taylor Zalunardo had 13 points and three steals, and Alison Cozby contributed eight points and four rebounds.
