Landon Gillespie knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to lead the Ripon boys basketball team to a needed 48-35 revenge win over Sierra on Friday in the 33rd annual West High Holiday Tournament.

The Indians (7-5) will compete in the consolation final today at 1:30 p.m., and Sierra (7-5) plays for seventh place starting at 10:30 a.m.

They previously faced off in a non-league game at Ripon on Dec. 6, with Sierra prevailing, 51-43. That started a four-game skid for the Indians, who have also lost second-year junior forward Marcus Madoski to an ankle injury.

Hindered by early foul trouble in Ripon’s first-round loss to Kimball, Gillespie got the Indians off and running Friday with his first three 3s in the opening period. The Indians took a 21-9 lead into the second quarter and continued its strong play defensively.

Dawson Downs contributed with nine points, Ty Herrin netted eight points and 10 rebounds and Logan Lefebvre had seven points and five assists.
