Yes on Q effort surpasses $100K to push passage
Manteca businesses, labor groups, firefighters, local residents, youth sports organizations, and builders have a lot riding on Measure Q on Tuesday’s ballot. As of Oct. 27, the Yes on Q Committee has now raised $103,549.30 to fund its campaign to gain passage of the 20-year long three-quarter cent sales tax on Nov. 5.

ROUNDUP: Manteca wins girls tennis playoff opener; EU’s Ingalls cards 84 at SJS Golf Masters

 Manteca’s top-seeded girls tennis team dominated in singles play in its Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoff opener Monday, and it was good enough for a comfortable 7-2 win over No. 8 Bear Creek.

The Buffaloes (11-6) host No. 5 Los Banos (14-7) in the semifinal round Wednesday.

Emma Ngo took care of business from the No. 1 singles spot, downing Kiara Kuhl, 6-2, 6-2.

No. 2 Shreya Raman defeated Ana Gridi-Papp, 6-2, 6-1; No. 3 Michailla Springs warded off Adalynn Chhun, 6-2, 7-5; No. 4 Simar Mann dispatched Denise McCall, 6-2, 6-1; No. 5 Parm Toor toppled Mary Bailey, 6-1, 6-1; and No. 6 Pailsey Coenenberg blanked Lizbeth Zuniga, 6-0, 6-0.

Manteca’s No. 3 doubles team of Delialah Sanchez Torres and Rubi Sepulveda capped the team scoring with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) triumph against Maddie Santiago and Summer Vae,.

Alyson Alvarado and Pia Kley’s match at No. 2 doubles was competitive, but they ultimately fell short to Alejandra Galo and Chloe Nielues, 4-6, 5-7.

Myreal Bugayong and Mariah Ramirez dropped a 5-7, 0-6 decision to Veona Baei and Maria Lora in No. 1 doubles.

Bear Creek ended its season with a 9-7 record.,

Manteca’s semifinal is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Los Banos (14-7), the third-place team from the Central California Conference, knocked off No. 4 Oakdale 5-4.in the first round.

Sac-Joaquin Section Masters

The lone area representative in the SJS final went out with a solid round at The Reserve at Spanos Park on Monday

East Union’s Jessica Ingalls carded an 84 to finish tied for 37th place out of 105 participants.

Emily Guan of Masters champion Oak Ridge was low medalist with a 4-under 68. The top three teams and four individuals advance to the NorCal tournament next Monday, Nov. 12 at Berkeley Country Club.

Oak Ridge (388), Granite Bay (395) and Pleasant Grove (412) were the top three teams. Runner-up Abigail Line of Vista del Lago (70), Taylor Baker (71) of Rio Americano, Melia Gustavson (72) of Colfax and Ester Sheu (74) of El Capitan are the qualifying individuals.
