Manteca’s girls tennis team won two three-set matches Thursday against Oakdale, winning 7-2 at Manteca Regional Tennis Center. The Buffaloes improved to 4-0 in the Valley Oak League.

They won all six singles contests, as No. 5 Jenna Poncini battled back to dispatch Kaylee Chavez, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Manteca’s lone win in doubles play came from the No. 3 tandem of Guadalupe Mercado and Michailla Springs, as they knocked off Sara Arnke and Jacy Dorro, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1

Katie Kim cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in the No. 1 singles match against Payton Avila. Chloe Marquis (6-3, 6-3), Emma Ngo (7-5, 6-1), Shreya Raman (6-1, 7-5) and Christina Nguyen (6-4, 7-5) won the other team matches.

 

Sierra 7, Kimball 2

Visiting Kimball needed third sets to get their lone wins.

Singles winners for the Timberwolves were Tanya Sharma (6-0, 6-0), Maryn Peterson (6-0, 6-4), Navleen Dosa (6-4, 6-1) and Grace Langenfeld (6-0, 6-0).

The No. 1 doubles team of Dimran Dojanjh and Jaden Aron won, 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 Amber Garza and Lauren Byrd were 6-3, 6-1 victors, while Munveer Dosanjh and Kimmelly Mejia prevailed, 6-2, 6-0.

 

GIRLS WATER POLO

Sierra 19, Central Catholic 0

The Timberwolves spread the attack in the Valley Oak League tilt, as Taylor Miske, Giana Ramos, Lyndi Mortenson, Molly Allen and Bianca Fraser fired two goals apiece.

Kiera Brink, Lauren Ellis, Mele Sanchez, Amy Fadeff, Olivia Knodt, Madison Madrid, Stephanie Thomason, Maya Merillo and Caly Culbertson each added one.

 

Johansen 16, Lathrop 5

Kalani Soriano and Hannah Stewart each netted a pair of goals, while Elizabeth Rodriguez chipped in one.

 

BOYS WATER POLO

Sierra 12, Central Catholic 4

Mitchell Van Zwaluwenberg struck for two goals for the Timberwolves.

Moises Alvarado, Sammy Perez, Zack Walmer, Troy Morrow, Carson Murray, Jacob Horgus, Mason Chavez, Gabriel Monasterio and Lucas Stackpole added one each.

 

Lathrop 11, Johansen 10

The Spartans (2-1) picked up their second Western Athletic Conference win in team history.

Christian Buerster powered Lathrop with five goals, Alan De La Garza amassed four and Connor Giovannoni pitched in two.

 

GIRLS GOLF

Ripon 171, Sonora 207

Gabbi Ilardi shot 1-over 37 at Teleli Golf Club, while Katie Martin backed up with a solid 39. Aaliyah Martinez and Vivian Parsons added a 47 and 48, respectively.

Host Sonora was paced by Ella Walker’s 49.
