ROUNDUP: Lathrop trounces Hawks in tune-up for flag football playoffs

With its first-ever Sac-Joaquin Section playoff berth already secured, Lathrop is tuning up for the second season in the final week of the Western Athletic Conference schedule.

The Spartans took care of Central Valley 31-12 Monday in Ceres.

Quarterback Luz De Luna torched the Hawks (7-6 WAC, 8-12 overall) with 299 passing yards and five touchdowns, while Dayanna Martinez anchored the defense with a whopping seven pass break-ups to go with four tackles.

Aaliyah Thompson caught two of the touchdown passes, finishing with 43 yards on five catches. Faith Allen added four receptions, 60 yards and a TD. Jaleiyah Ray totaled 110 yards from scrimmage on four receptions and two rushes.

Faith Butler and Angelique Gonzalez each contributed five tackles on defense. Heiddy Camacho had an interception.

The Spartans (11-2, 17-3) close WAC play Wednesday at home against Beyer.

Beyer’s Noah Richardson was low medalist with a 51 at Manteca Park Golf Course, but the Patriots were a player short of recording a legal team score.

Ashley Abon and Kate Albisu each carded a 62 for Lathrop. Kimberly Rivera (64), Madison Dash (67) and Yadira Hernandez (69) were the Spartans’ other scorers.

Melia Lewis rambled for 105 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

Citali Lopez added a 10-yard touchdown run.
