The Lathrop girls volleyball team swept Pacheco 25-11, 25-19, 25-23 to open Western Athletic Conference play Monday at home.

Elizabeth Andrade led the Spartans (1-0, 4-1 overall) with 12 kills, eight digs, five aces and a block.

Ayden Petroff contributed 24 assists and three aces to the attack. Zoe Cejas and Justine Mabutas anchored the defense with 14 and 12 digs, respectively.

Erin Chunn added seven kills, four digs and two aces. Shakara Porter and Annabelle Obasuyi eacg had two kills and 1 block.

The Spartans (1-0, 6-1 overall) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominant WAC-opening victory in Los Banos.

Luz De Luna, Stephanie Lopez and Abigail Renteria each completed a touchdown pass. Jaleiyah Ray caught four passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Lathrop hosts Grace Davis on Wednesday.

JV girls volleyball

Pacheco 2, Lathrop 0

The visiting Panthers escaped with the 29-27, 25-20 victory.

Brianna Valencia tallied four kills and four digs for Lathrop. Araya Carson (six digs) and Taylor Johnwell (two blocks) fired three kills each.

Vivianna Salcedo recorded nine assists, five digs and two aces. Rosemary Libaste and Sarah Garcia collected seven and five digs, respectively.

Morgan Hegler threw for 155 yards, which included a touchdown completion each to Citali Lopez and Melia Lewis.

Frosh girls volleyball

Audrina Fisher netted four kills and six aces, as Lathrop squeaked out the 24-26, 25-9, 15-13 win.

Irshbir Bisla produced four kills and four aces. Cassidy Fa’ali’i served five aces while adding two kills and two assists.

Alexza Bringas handed out seven assists while tallying two aces and two digs. Andrea Lemus chipped in three aces.
