ROUNDUP: EU’s Ingalls cards 4-over 40 in golf season opener

Jessica Ingalls and the East Union girls golf team started the Valley Oak League season strong Thursday at Manteca Park Golf Course.

The Lancers tallied a team score of 246, winning by forfeiture against visiting Central Catholic, which fielded just two players.

Ingalls led the way with a 4-over-par 40. Teammate Arianna Pale was the runner-up with a 43. Kendall Perry produced a 47 and was followed by Alizae Farias’ 57, Ava Gutierrez’s 59 and Jocelyn Diaz’s throw-out 64.

Skylar Camiwet scored a 70 for Central Catholic.


Mountain House 249, Sierra 348

Ashlee Xu paced visiting Mountain House with a 39 at Manteca Park Golf Course.

Scorers for Sierra: Nakitha Mutu (66), Hannah Williamson (68), Alyssa Suarez (69), Kanika Tyagi (70) and Kate De Belen (75).


Ripon 181, Hughson 195

At Jack Tone Golf Course, Madden Nogues finished as co-medalist with an 11-over 42 for defending Trans-Valley League champion Ripon.

Adalyn Poulson added a 43, Adisyn Powers a 46 and Mia Mateo a 50.


GIRLS TENNIS

Kimball 6, Manteca 3

The Buffaloes started their VOL schedule in Tracy, getting wins in three out of the top four singles matches. Kimball got the edge with two three-set victories.

Emma Ngo won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0 over Oviya Jayaprakash. No. 2 Shreya Raman took care of Aanshi Thakur, 6-1, 6-0. Simar Mann defeated Rameen Kaur 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.


GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Pitman 3, Ripon Christian 0

The Knights (2-5) had visiting Pitman (5-0) on the ropes for two sets but were ultimately swept, 25-10, 25-21, 26-24.

Ripon Christian scored the first four points of the second set and let the third 24-23 before giving up the Pride rallied for the final three points.

Brynn Bohn led RC with four kills, three blocks and two aces. Setter Anna Blanco registered 21 assists and 10 digs. Haley Kootstra had a team-high six kills, and Anneke Dyt collected 14 digs.

Ripon Christian’s JV swept 25-6, 25-11 to improve to 3-0. The freshman team also won, 25-21, 25-17.
