Ripon swept visiting Ripon Christian 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 Tuesday in girls volleyball action to continue the Indians’ march through the Trans-Valley League, having lost just one set in nine league games.

“We lost one set to Orestimba,” Ripon coach Gregory Soliz said. “We were up 19-11 and lost that set.

“We lost focus, and they understood that they can’t do that. We have been preaching that we can’t let up even when we are ahead.”

Shayla McKeon blasted out 13 kills for the Indians (9-0 TVL, 23-2 overall) with two digs and a block.

“Tonight was definitely an intense game,” McKeon said. “We were all fired up, and from our section game last year, we have wanted to beat them in our own house for so long and we finally did it.

“It’s our house.”

Ripon’s Katelyn Bogetti dished out 31 assists along with three kills, a block and a dig.

“We were really excited for this game,” Bogetti said. “They are our rival, and we had a lot of pressure put on us because of the football game last Friday, so we just wanted to come out and get a good win.

“We know that they have strong players, so we made sure to play big and consistent.”

Emeri Lane patrolled the back row for the Indians with eight digs.

“This is always a fun game to play with them being out crosstown rivals,” Lane said. “We really wanted to come out strong, because our football team didn’t do too well against RC and we wanted to continue our league winning streak.”

Adriana Dorn (11 kills, four blocks, four digs, three aces) and Jorie Eskes (nine kills) rounded out the Ripon attack.

After a rough start the Knights (5-4, 12-13) have won five of their last six games.

“I am happy overall with the progress that we have made,” Ripon Christian coach Kayla Kootstra said. “Ripon is a good team, and they are undefeated in league for a reason.

“I don’t know if tonight is an actual reflection of our play. There are things I definitely wish we could have done better, but hats off to them. They earn points and take care of business on their side.”

Ripon Christian’s Anneke Dyt tallied 18 digs. Alanna Blanco added 18 assists, Paige Van Hofwegen six kills and Haley Kootstra five kills.

Thursday at 6 p.m. the Knights host Escalon and the Indians travel to Sonora.
