Sierra High senior Stefany Perez signed her letter Thursday to wrestle for Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI. She was joined on this special occasion in the school cafeteria by her family, including her parents Tiffany and John Perez.

Stefany Perez made it official last week, signing on to wrestle in the fall at Siena Height University in southern Michigan.

The Sierra High senior will be attending the private Catholic university located in the town of Adrian on an athletic / academic scholarship, according to SHS Athletic Director Ezequiel Ruiz.

Perez’s family, friends, and teammates including those on her Timberwolves and Manteca Cobras wrestling programs were in attendance at the signing event held in the school cafeteria.

Ruiz paid tribute to her many accomplishments at Sierra High.

Perez spent a majority of her time as three-sport athlete – she was also on the swimming (two years) and water polo (three years) teams – while maintaining a 3.54 grade point average.

For the Cobras, she was adept at Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling.

Ruiz acknowledged that Perez earned her way to continue her second education at Siena Heights University due to her “hard work, dedication, and the hours spent perfecting her craft.”

Perez first heard of the Midwest university through a coach of the school during the state wrestling meet two years ago – she had qualified for the state meet in 2022 at 111 pounds, finishing fourth.

Perez received numerous offers from other colleges but chose the SHU Saints wrestling program of the NAIA.

She plans to major in Art Education.

“(Siena Heights University) is everything I was looking for in a school,” Perez said.
