Manteca’s Juju Moncada brought home two gold medals and two silvers to help lead the Buffalo boys to first place in the Timberwolf Invitational hosted by Sierra High at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
Moncada won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 11.32 and 23.33 seconds, respectively. Moncada was on the second-place 4x100 relay team (43.67) with Nikko Juarez, Kaden MacDannald and Bryson Davis as well as the second-place 4x400 relay (3:41.09) that also included Isaiah Arechiga, Dario Rodriguez and Jayden Scarver.
Other first-place finishers for the Buffaloes were Oscar Angel (1,600, 4:40.58; 3,200, 10:03.69), Rodriguez (800, 2:04.42) and Juarez (long jump, 21-11). Davis (long jump, 21-8) and Christopher King (shot put, 46-1) finished second.
East Union finished fourth and was paced by gold-medal performances from Jackson Fay, Cesar Salinas, Anthony Morales, J.P. Abrew (4x100 relay, 43.16) and Sebastian Arrizano (shot put, 46-1). Fay finished second in the 100 (11.47) and third in the 200 (23.54). Salinas was second in the 400 (52.72) and Brady Rossi third in the discus (134-0).
Lathrop’s Adonis Siga tallied three gold medals, as his Spartans finished sixth. He won the 110 hurdles (14.88), 300 hurdles (40.25) and was on the first-place 4x400 relay team (3:38.01) with Makoi Cagler, Jimari Dove and Malachi Gonzales. Gavin Miller was tied for second in the pole vault (12-6).
Sierra finished seventh with Tristan Crowe, Landen Nabb, Christian Gonzalez, Joseph Ramos-Fortes winning the 4x800 relay (8:44.68), Crowe finishing second in the 800 (2:06.84) with Jax Ballard (shot put, 45-1) and Anthony Grady (triple jump, 40-6) finishing third.
Ripon’s 4x400 relay team of Eric Guevara, Brett Shaw, Luke Bair and Jacob Lawrence finished third (3:43.14).
Ripon finished second in the girls competition. Jenna Skavdahl posted second-place finishes in the 400 (1:04.08) and on the 4x400 relay team (4:15.05) with Clara Schooland, Emily Paxton and Starla Skiles.
Paxton and Skiles were joined by Rylee Agbiyani-Duenas and Olivia Maragos for a third-place finish on the 4x100 relay (51.08). Also finishing third were Schooland (high jump, 4-10) and Maragos (long jump, 16-0).
Sierra finished third with second-place finishes by Serena Dittman (800, 2:37.94) and
Mikayla Bueno (3200, 12:46.74) and third-place finishes by Janessa Barnes, Alexandra Chapman, Abigail Chapman and Zoe Kossart (4x400 relay, 4:28.17), Zoe Kossart (800, 2:40.02)
Alexandra Chapman (100 hurdles, 15.92), Abigail Chapman (300 hurdles, 48.68) and Olivia Knott (triple jump, 32-6 ½).
Manteca was sixth with Genesis Mailangi winning the shot put (29-9), Jada Ikharo taking second in the triple jump (33-1) and Adamaris Aguilar third in the discus (89-1).
Evelyn Ladine finished second in the 100 (13.41) and Linda Medrano third in the 1600 (5:47.25) for East Union which finished eighth.
Lathrop’s Alyssa Maynor finished second in the shot put (27-2)
Aryan Kandola won the discus (93-4) for Sierra which won the boys frosh-soph.
Pablo Pena (shot put, 43-6), and Treydon Santos (high jump, 5-4) both finished first for Lathrop which finished sixth.
Zhanee Sutton tallied three gold medals for the first-place Sierra girls. Sutton won the 100 (13.96), 200 (28.49) and along with Peyton Duarte, Margeil Garcia and Anayah Wills the 4x100 relay (52.42). Jessica Miranda won the 800 (2:37.95).
Aleena Bassi, Erin Chunn, Araya Carson and Mariana Coon won the 4x400 relay (4:37.41) and Alyvia Galano the pole vault (7-0) for the Lathrop girls which finished second.
Manteca finished fifth behind first-place finishes by Makayla Spencer (400, 1:05.95), Paisley Coenenberg (1,600, 5:57.07), Amaya Zavala-Valverde (shot put, 25-11) and Gabby Leon (long jump, 14-9).
