Emma Ngo and Shreya Raman are headed back to Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville this morning for the second day of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Individual Tournament.

The doubles partners from Manteca High advanced to the semifinal round after winning two matches on Thursday. It’s the second semifinal-round appearance in three years for Ngo, who reached this point as a sophomore with then-doubles mate Chloe Marquis.

Ngo and Raman, seeded fourth, will face defending champions Ariana Kim and Emily Wong, the top-seeded tandem from Rodriguez High of Fairfield.

Ngo and Raman survived a first-round scare, downing Vacaville’s Ayanna Gentry and Reese Hsiao in a super tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-1, 10-5. The Buffaloes then swept Roseville’s Khloe Nguyen and Evana Sharma, 7-5, 6-0.

Also in the semifinals are Anya Palsson and Vivian Zhang of Mountain House. They downed Ngo and Raman in the Valley Oak League Tournament final last week. The two Mustangs square off with Claudia Dudek and Sanah Kahlon of River Valley (Yuba City).
