Manteca splits 2 preseason girls tennis matches

 Manteca’s girls tennis team split its two preseason matches this week.

On Tuesday, the Buffaloes traveled to Tracy and defeated West, 7-2. They then lost a close one to Pitman in Turlock 5-4 on Thursday.

Against West, Manteca swept all six singles matches to clinch the victory. Winners were Emma Ngo (6-4, 6-2), Shreya Raman (6-1, 6-1), Michailla Springs (6-0, 6-0), Simar Mann (6-2, 6-1), Parm Toor (6-0, 6-0) and Paisley Coeneneberg (6-1, 6-0.

The No. 2 doubles team of Alyson Alvarado and Rubi Sepulveda won, 6-0, 6-1.

The Pitman match featured five three-set matches.

Raman was the only Buffalo to win in straight sets. She cruised past Anjuli Avila, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Springs held off Winmin Tan 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 3 singles, and No. 6 Coenenberg held off Katherine Volf 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Delilah Sanchez Torres teamed with Sepulveda in No. 2 doubles, and they knocked off Amrit Brar and Kyla Tran, 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Ngo dropped the No. 1 singles match 4-6, 6-7 (4) to Megan Schweitzer. Pitman won third sets in No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.
