Adriana Dorn paced the Ripon girls volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-13 sweep of visiting Hilmar on Thursday, wrapping up the Trans-Valley League volleyball campaign undefeated.

Dorn blasted out 15 kills, posting two blocks with six aces and a dig, going on a six-point service run toward the end of the final set to put it out of reach.

“I have been focusing on working on blocking,” Dorn said. “Especially getting my inside hand turned and reading the hitter.

“With the kills, I have been working on staying tall.”

The Indians (12-0 TVL, 26-2 overall) found themselves in a rare position in the second set – behind. The Yellowjackets (9-3, 24-8) led 12-11 and were trailing 15-14 when Ripon gained the serve, bringing Katelynn Bogetti (22 assists, 10 service points, three digs, two blocks, kill ace) to toe the service line.

Bogetti went on an eight-point service run with Hilmar failing to return four of her serves, bumping the Indians lead to 23-14.

“I was just really focused on getting my serves in and thinking about what we practiced,” Bogetti said. “It was close and I wanted to get a lead and give us a bit of a cushion.”

Indians libero Amelia Lara put up 10 service points with three digs and three aces.

“Being libero is an honor,” Lara said. “(Coach) Greg (Soliz) has helped everyone, especially me, through so much.

“You just have to stay focused, stay on your toes and play defense.”

Ripon’s Shayla McKeon added six kills, three digs and an ace. Jorie Eskes chipped in 10 kills and two blocks with Kennedy Everhart dishing out 22 assists and Olivia Neuman adding two blocks.

The only set the Indians dropped in TVL play this season was in a 3-1 victory at Orestimba on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

“I think after that set loss the girls really got it figured out,” Soliz said. “They saw that we couldn’t take it easy and then try to turn it on when we think we can.

“We gave up some points today, but the girls have been steady all year so I knew we could pull it out, especially that close first set.”

Both teams will await the pairings to be announced over the weekend for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs that begin on Tuesday.
