In Ripon’s 25-13, 25-17, 25-12 of visiting Orestimba in Trans-Valley League girls volleyball action Thursday night, the Indians trailed just once, and Adriana Dorn saw to it that the Indians would not trail for long.

The Warriors (0-8 TVL, 14-12 overall) of Newman took a 1-0 lead in the third set before an Orestimba net violation brought Dorn to the service line. Dorn erupted for an eight-point service run behind three aces and Ripon never looked back.

“In practice we have really been working on serving,” said Dorn, who finished with 11 kills, six aces and four digs. “With hitting our spots and seams.

“So, I have really been working on being consistent and serving tough, and I think it showed tonight.”

Jorie Eskes (11 kills, three blocks) pounded the net with teammate Dorn.

“It was pretty fun tonight,” Eskes said. “We have played them before and they took a set off of us, so tonight we were determined to play our game and work hard.”

Ripon libero Emeri Lane posted six digs to help keep the Indians undefeated in league play at 8-0, 22-2 overall.

“I am glad we got to continue our winning streak in league,” Lane said. “Flying all over the court, going for the ball and being aggressive is what a libero does.”

Ripon coach Gregory Soliz is pleased with his team’s serve-receive game.

“We have been trying to stay consistent,” Soliz said. “The serve and pass game is where we are trying to be the best.

“I think we have some girls that can serve the ball tough and if we can get teams out of system then it’s easy defensively for us and the girls have been doing a great job on that.”

Shayla McKeon added nine kills, two digs and a block for the Indians and Olivia Neuman added five kills. Katelyn Bogetti dished out 31 assists.

Frustrated by its sloppy all-around effort just two days prior, East Union was near-perfect Wednesday when rival Sierra visited for Game 2 of their best-of-three Valley Oak League series. Blake Mount struck out 12 in a dominant two-hit shutout, and he was backed by a clean defensive effort and timely hitting in a 9-0 win for EU at Maurice Agostini Field. It was a complete role reversal from the opener, which Sierra took 11-1 in six innings. The rubber game is Friday at Sierra’s Jack Stadium.
