Weston Ranch High took care of business in the Rocklin Holiday Tournament opener, adding to a four point halftime lead and beating Whitney High 70-61 Thursday in the tournament’s opening round.
The Cougars (3-2) got a standout showing from senior point guard Eric Duncan. Duncan was everything Weston Ranch needed him to be, turning in a game-high 25 points and doing it in the flow of the Cougars’ offensive sets.
“This was the most controlled game that I have seen from us,” Weston Ranch head coach Chris Teevan said. “It really showed the development in Eric Duncan’s as a point guard.
“He had 25 and you would have thought he had 12. Nothing was forced and he didn’t turn the ball over.”
Daiveon Leverett also had a solid outing with 18, while Dylan Alexander finished with 17.
The Cougars square off with Inderkum at 5:30 p.m. today.
