Calla captures South Bay coed volleyball championship

 The Calla High coed volleyball team capped its undefeated season by winning the South Bay Athletic League playoffs on Thursday.

The Lobos swept Calaveras Hills of Milpitas in the final, 25-20, 25-20. They earlier took care of New Valley (Santa Clara) in the semifinals, 25-18, 25-16.

Senior captain Bukari Barrier (24 kills) and Casey Sieg (40 assists, four kills) were named to the all-league team.

Other key contributors in the tournament included Jeriah Rowe (10 blocks, four kills, six assists), Ritchie Garnica (20 digs) and Nayson Sam (seven digs).

Calla’s team was comprised of seven boys and three girls. A minimum of two girls were required to play at all times.
