The 5-foot-10 junior point guard has keyed the Timberwolves’ strong start to the Valley Oak League season.
In their first three league games, she averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 5.0 blocks while shooting 53% from the field, including 4-of-10 on 3-pointers. Everett was instrumental on both ends of the court last Thursday when they raced away from Manteca late for a 57-49 win over a reigning co-champion.
Everett scored eight of her 10 points in the second half, and her left-handed lay-in with 1:56 sparked an 8-2 run to end the game. She also had five rebounds, three assists, four steals and five blocks.
“She's lightning fast,” Sierra coach Rudy Valencia said after the game. “There's not really anybody that could stay in front of that girl, and she has that length, too.
“You see her get these easy layups going all the way down the court. With her, it has just been about building her confidence up, and tonight, you can see her really coming out of her shell.”
She was just productive all-around in Sierra’s previous two league contests. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the T’wolves won 52-41 at Oakdale behind Everett’s varsity career-high 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting. She made three of five 3s and both of her free throws on the night. Defensively, she had three steals and five blocks.
Sierra nearly upset league newcomer Patterson on the road on its VOL opener Jan. 2, dropping a 63-57 decision. Everett again blocked five shots, while also recording 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.
The Timberwolves came into this week with a 7-7 overall record. They have another big game Thursday when co-champ East Union visits for their VOL home opener.
